Tommy Spurr Agrees Three Year Deal

27 June 2016

Tommy Spurr will complete a three year deal to join the Lilywhites from July 1st.

The former Blackburn Rovers defender opted on a moved to Deepdale ahead of other offers after speaking to manager Simon Grayson.

Born in Leeds, the 28-year-old left-sided player began his career at Sheffield Wednesday, making over 200 appearances, across six years, before a spell at Doncaster Rovers where he was a League One title winner.

He joined Blackburn in 2013, making over 80 appearances, but turned down the offer of a new deal at Ewood Park to sign on the dotted line in PR1.

Speaking about the move he said: “As soon as Preston showed their interest, with the way they played last year and the information I got from the gaffer about the type of group there is here, it really appealed to me.

“I am delighted to have signed and now I am looking forward to getting started later this week. I can't wait to get going, to get training and to meet everyone and start playing games.”

Tommy will join fellow new signings Simon Makienok and Chris Maxwell as the squad return to training later this week, with the first friendly only 11 days away when the new signings will have their first chance of a run out against Bamber Bridge on Friday 8th July at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
