Chris Enjoying Being Back

28 July 2016

Chris Humphrey is loving being back out on the pitch again after missing the majority of last season through injury.

The winger worked hard in the summer to come back as fit as possible for pre-season and admits he is just enjoying being back out on the pitch playing football.

"It's brilliant, it's just nice to be getting the minutes I've had since the first game to the last game we've had.

"I didn't think I would have so many with being out so it's nice to see that the gaffer trusts me to have as many minutes as I've had.

"The main thing this last week is that I'm enjoying myself, when I'm enjoying myself I feel confident and when I feel fit and when I feel good then the best comes out of me and long may it continue."

Despite his fitness work through the summer, the 28-year-old admits he found pre-season hard at first having been out for so long, but is reaping the rewards of his hard work now with each game he plays.

"It's been tough for me, especially the first couple of weeks. I thought Ireland was tough but I always knew it was going to be with such a long time being off and not doing specific running.

"You can run but when you are doing the specific running, tests etc. it really shows you where you are at. So when I came back I had a rough judgement and I was quite far off a few of the lads but I always knew once I started playing games that was where I would get my main fitness.

"From when I started off at Bamber Bridge to now I feel terrific. I feel ready and I was just speaking to friends yesterday saying how much I'm really enjoying football again.

"When I'm on the pitch I'm just enjoying it and hopefully I can have a good season."
