After three wins in the last four games, manager Simon Grayson is looking to continue that momentum on Tuesday night.
North End travel to St Andrew's to take on Birmingham City on Tuesday evening, and the gaffer is looking for another good performance on the road but expects a stern test from Gary Rowett's side.
"They've had a real good start, as they did last year, they had a real strong season, we had a decent game down there and put on a good, resilient performance in the end and showed a lot of character so we know what we are up against.
"They are a tough team, well organised and disciplined, so we have to do the right things that we've done in the last couple of games.
"We know what we need to deal with but hopefully we can bring our game to the table and get another good result and good performance.
"We know how they are going to play and what strengths and weaknesses they have got but obviously they will be worried about us and what we have done on Tuesday night at Bournemouth and then again on Friday to get back to back wins."
North End are expected to be backed by a good away following at St Andrew's, something the manager is grateful for, and has praised the fans for their support so far this season.
"We said last week when we took just short of 300 down to Bournemouth that it was a fantastic effort and I thought the atmosphere at Deepdale on Friday night was exceptional. I thought it was really good, it kept the players going, even when Wigan had quite a bit of possession the supporters stayed with the players.
"They understood what we were trying to do and they saw that the team were ultimately trying to win the game and still trying to create things.
"We've always said it's a two way thing through good times and bad times and hopefully on Tuesday night again we are leaving a difficult place with a positive result again."
