Confidence High For Cunningham And Company

23 February 2017

Greg Cunningham is aiming to continue the momentum from recent results into this weekend's visit of Queens Park Rangers.

North End picked up seven points from three games last week, and after back to back wins at Deepdale, Cunningham is hoping to maintain the home form that has seen a return of ten points from a possible 12 in 2017.

Looking ahead to Saturday's game, Cunningham said:  "We are looking forward to it, the supporters have always been fantastic and we've tried to make Deepdale a fortress so it's vital to keep the momentum going and trying to close the gap between us and the Play-Offs and see how things go.

"We are in good form, confidence is flowing in the dressing room and everyone is feeling good so we want to make sure that the season doesn't peter off and we try and get as close as we can, or try and nick a place.

"We just need to make sure that we concentrate on each game as it comes and go from there.

"There have only been a limited number of games where we have been very frustrated with our own performance, we are trying to be as consistent as possible this season so we want to keep things going nicely leading into the game on Saturday and see where it takes us.

Despite there being a nine point gap to sixth place in the Championship for the Lilywhites, Cunningham and his teammates aren't giving up hope of a place in the Play-Offs and will work hard to close the gap on the top six for the remainder of the season.

"We are going to keep going until the end of the season until it's mathematically impossible for us to get there but we want to finish as high as we can.

"Yes there is a bit of a gap between us and that sixth place but there's still a lot of games to go, we just need to take every game as it comes and if we keep our performances high and as consistent as possible then come the first weekend in May we will be there or thereabouts but we will keep going.

"We know what we have in this dressing room, it's not going to happen for us every week, we will have days where we don't perform to our best but we want to make sure that we are performing as consistently and as high as possible and the results should follow and that starts on Saturday."
