Paul Gallagher Values Last Gasp Point At Ewood

18 March 2017

Preston North End's Paul Gallagher felt today's late point could be a vital one to the PNE cause.

Gallagher entered the fray in the final 15 minutes, bringing much needed composure to the midfield.

The No. 12 admitted he was desperate to be involved this afternoon against his former club, and was even more determined to make an impact on proceedings once he entered the field of play.

"I was itching to get on," said Gallagher after speaking to PNEPlayerHD post-match.

"I have fond memories of this place; of playing here so I wanted to play a part this afternoon.

"When we got that late goal I thought we had a few more minutes to get another one but it was a tough game, in tough weather conditions as well but we showed our character and managed to get a point.

"We started the game very brightly, we knew they'd come out of the traps very quick, but we've managed to get a goal with Tom who's been playing really well with a lot of confidence.

"We could have kicked on from there but fair play to Blackburn, they stuck at it and played some good stuff  and scored two good goals, but we showed a lot of character to get back into the game."

Although the cameo was brief from Gallagher, he still managed to make his mark on the game, playing a part in the build up which saw Aiden McGeady claim a last gasp point for North End in front of just over 6,000 jubilant away supporters.

"We stuck at it, got the goal and got what we deserved," stated Gallagher

"It fell to Barkhuizen who had a bit of space on the edge of the box, I was actually telling him to roll it slow but he hit it a bit too quick for me. I was going to have a touch and chip it onto the back stick but managed to squeeze it to Clarkey who showed great composure to put it into Geads - it felt like an eternity to go in but he managed to stay composed and find the net."

On North End's backing this afternoon, Gallagher continued: "The noise they made was terrfic and they stuck with us for the whole game, to score right at the end and give them something to cheer about is brilliant.

"We've got that in us - we never give up; this point could be massive at the end of the season."
