Hunts Set For Appearance Landmark

5 May 2017

Paul Huntington is set to make his 200th appearance for Preston North End in the final game of the 2016/17 season.

Huntington joined North End back in 2012, but it's the last few seasons where the centre back has flourished.

After fighting for his place in the side during the 2014/15 campaign, the 29-year-old went on to score in the Play-Off final and win the 2015 Player of the Year award.

This season, Hunts has been at the heart of the PNE defence for much of the season and is delighted to be so close to reaching the milestone.

"I was told about it at the last game actually, I've been here five years now and to get near enough 200 appearances is great. I will be looking to play as many games as I can from the start of next season and hopefully I can be a part of an even better season next year.

"I'm pleased to be a part of a great set of lads really. It's a great group we've got here, I enjoy coming into work every day and working with the staff and the players and I'm pleased to be a part of it.

"Everyone has given everything this season, it's a tough league, you've got to earn everything you get and we will rest over the summer and we will go again ready for pre-season and I'm sure it will be another important season for us."

North End will better last season's points tally by avoiding defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the closing game of the season on Sunday, but the defender admits that,m though there is an element of disappointment after recent results, it shows just how far this side has come.

"Overall it's been a good season, obviously the last few results haven't been what we've been looking for. We've been missing a couple of key players but it's left us thinking about what could have been really.

"We were four points off the Play-Offs so we are a little bit disappointed but it shows what we are capable of going into next season. Hopefully we can improve again and go one better."
