Manager Expecting Different Test

11 August 2016

Manager Simon Grayson is expecting a different test from Saturday's opposition than what he faced last season.

There have been a number of changes at Fulham over the summer both in terms of personnel and their style of play, but the manager is hoping to get points on the board in the first of two back to back home games in the league.

"We have a couple of league games at home now to hopefully get some points. It will be a tough game at Fulham, we know a lot about them obviously but they look like they are a different type of team to what they were last year, but we are back to Deepdale and hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the league.

"I think that was something they probably looked to improve on last year, I think they were one of the top two or three teams in all of the divisions for the amount of goals conceded so it's something they needed to address.

They have obviously lost the goals of Dembele and McCormack but they've brought one or two others in and that happens in windows. You have to move things around and improve on things from the previous year that weren't' done properly.

"They are coming in off the back of a good result last Friday against Newcastle United and then they won the other night. That might have changed their mentality a little bit but we know what we need to do to go and win the game.

With this the first chance for the Deepdale faithful to see the boys in league action this season, the manager is hoping for a good crowd on Saturday, and is looking to give them something to cheer about come full-time.

"We saw 4,500 fans there the other night, I'm sure it will be up to double that at the very least this weekend, hopefully treble that. It's a different type of game the first league game where it really matters.

"You want to get on the front foot, play with a purpose and build on how we played the other night. I thought there was some good stuff at times, there are some things we need to sharpen up a little bit which we know. The lads who came off the bench effected things which what we wanted so ultimately we want to build off the result and the performance the other night."
