2017 Player Of The Year Award: The Winners

30 April 2017

Aiden McGeady scooped the top award at the 2017 Preston North End player of the year awards on Sunday afternoon.

The Irish winger, who has thrilled the Deepdale faithful with his displays on loan from Everton this season, was presented with the Sir Tom Finney player of the year award trophy on the pitch at half-time during the Community Day, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

North End fan Julie McClellan was the lucky winner of the chance to present the PNE No.14 with his prize after a record number of votes were cast, McGeady collecting almost 50 per cent of the votes made.

There were different winners for all the awards, with Chris Maxwell collecting the community player of the year award for his efforts with the Preston North End Community and Education Trust and local charities.

The young player of the year award was presented by manager Simon Grayson and that went to midfield battler Ben Pearson, whilst assistant manager Glynn Snodin presented Jordan Hugill with the goal of the season for his first effort away at Aston Villa, where he ran from his own half before firing into the top right hand corner from 25 yards.

Youth team goalkeeper Callum Roberts, who was recently awarded a professional contract, collected the scholar of the year award trophy, whilst the final gong was collected by Paul Huntington, on behalf of skipper Tom Clarke, who due to his injury was not able to be present to collect his players’ player of the year award.

More details, reaction and interviews with the winners will be available on PNE.Com and PNE PlayerHD over the next few days.
