Hunts Delighted With New Deal

25 August 2016

North End defender Paul Huntington was delighted to put pen to paper on a new deal at Deepdale.

Huntington has pledged it future to the club until at least the summer of 2018, and is now looking forward to focusing solely on his football.

Speaking of the deal ahead of PNE's trip to Ispwich Town this weekend, 'Hunts' said: "I'm delighted, this is my fifth year here now and I've enjoyed each year that I've been here and I feel as though we've progressed as a club and as a group really.

"I'm really pleased to get it done and I can concentrate on the football now.

"I'm always learning, you're never too old to keep learning and taking information on board. I'm always looking to take on messages from the staff and teammates or whoever at the club and look to learn and keep improving.

Huntington was joined by Daniel Johnson in committing to North End by signing a new deal and a number of other players are expected to follow suit in the near future.

Speaking of the new deals, the 28-year-old continued: "I think it was only a matter of time before people were committing to the football club. The club is in a good place and obviously with the win at QPR at the weekend and following that up with a good win the other night it bodes well going forward.

"Obviously we will be looking to keep the points tally ticking over at the weekend. It's another tough game at Ipswich but we go there full of confidence and it's a game we are looking forward to.

"Ipswich are always well organised and they've not been far off the Play-Offs in the last couple of years so they are obviously a good side.

"I watched a bit of their game against Norwich last week and like I said they work hard, we know what to expect. We will be doing a little bit of work on that in the next day or so and we will make sure we are ready."

"It's another of the longer trips but you've got to get them out of the way at some point and hopefully like at QPR we can return with three points which makes the journey back up north a bit nicer!"
