Assistant boss Glynn Snodin spoke ahead of the Lilywhites’ trip to the Vitality Stadium to face top flight AFC Bournemouth.
The North End No.2 said that the side had been quick to draw a line under the weekend’s game and was now looking ahead to testing itself against a top flight team.
“We were in on Sunday and showed them a little video, everyone got it off their chest and we went back out on the training ground and started all over again for Tuesday,” said Snods.
“Once it has happened you can do nothing about it. You can show the lads exactly where things went wrong and then hopefully they can take it into the next game – you just draw a line under it and move on.
“Whoever plays on Tuesday will be determined to put it right. You can’t wait for the next game to come when you have had a defeat like that. We have never experienced that before and I don’t think we will again; it was a freak result and now we are ready for Tuesday and ready to put it right.”
The team face Eddie Howe’s outfit almost a year to the day since they last played them, in the same competition, at Deepdale and the former Leeds man says that everyone in the squad will be looking to seize the opportunity if selected.
“When you are a player you want to be playing; especially against Premier League teams; that’s what you train for and these are a great bunch of lads, who give you everything you have got,” he continued.
“Some have been very unlucky, who have been training very well and have not even been in the 18 and they are all looking forward to Tuesday.
“This group of players knows what the philosophy of the gaffer is. We have been together for quite a while now; they all know their jobs and we know what to expect from them.”
The Cherries are in their second consecutive season in the top division and Glynn believes they have a squad capable to fighting on a number of fronts.
“I think Bournemouth have done great. They have a stadium that only has a 12,000 capacity, but they are competing with teams that have been in the Premier League for a very long time.
“The directors have done a good job and then Eddie and his staff have worked really hard; playing the way of the manager’s philosophy and they remind me of Charlton when they were in the top flight, always able to finish comfortably in the middle of the table.
“It doesn’t matter what team they put out. You just have to look at the team they put out against Morecambe in the last round, that team would do well in the Championship. They have some great players and have spent well and it will be a really tough game for us, but we have players who will give them a game,” he added.
