Manager Simon Grayson was delighted with what he saw from his six strikers this evening as PNE recorded a 3-1 pre-season win against Oldham.
The trio linked-up well throughout particularly for Doyle's goal in the first-half before they were replaced by Jordan Hugill, Joe Garner and Jermaine Beckford on the hour.
Despite the triple change, it did little to disrupt PNE's rhythm with Garner himself bagging a brace; the first a looping header from a Chris Humphrey cross; the second a penalty after Beckford was fouled in the box and Grayson believed there was plenty of positives to take from his forward line tonight.
"We knew what we were going to get tonight," said Grayson.
"Some played 60, some played 90 and there was a couple of different systems. I thought we showed some good qualities on the ball and had a lot of discipline.
"I was pleased with them (the strikers). It gives us different options and different systems; we have six strikers at this moment in time who can slot into different positions.
"It was nice to see them all contribute, Callum (Robinson) got into some good pockets and drove into the box and got some good crosses in.
"Simon (Makienok) is always going to be a handful in there and the overall link-up play was good and Doyle's movement was very good as well.
"When the other three came on in the second-half we scored a couple more goals as well so overall it was a satisfying night apart from the Calum (Woods) injury."
