PNE boss Simon Grayson is preparing his side for a tough away trip against Newcastle United at St. James Park on Monday night.
North End will be heading to Tyneside to spoil the party as Newcastle have it all to play for, sitting second in the league and could secure automatic promotion if they better Reading’s result.
The Lilywhites were beaten in a controversial tie at Deepdale back in October, and after a tough run of games against strong opposition in recent weeks, the gaffer wants to get back to winning ways.
Talking to PNE PlayerHD, he said: “When we saw the fixtures come out we always knew that this was going to be a tough month.
“The teams we were going to face and with the last few games there is always going to be something riding on it.
“We can have an influence on it but ultimately, we want to get back to winning ways.
“We want to get the Norwich game out of our system and put on a performance for our travelling supporters.”
North End have impressed this season and are looking to build on their 11th placed finish from last season.
After three defeats in the last three games, the gaffer doesn’t want the end of the season performances to diminish the club’s achievements this campaign.
“We don’t want to undermine the good work we have done all season by finishing in a poor manner.
“Regardless of what Newcastle can do and what they can achieve we are going there to perform better than we have done recently.”
In the reverse fixture North End were unlucky to lose 2-1 and Grayson feels that was one of the club’s best performances this season.
“I think we were unrewarded with a penalty we should have had from Jermaine.
“I think second half we absolutely dominated the game without getting anything out of it.
“It is going to be a different type of game at St. James Park with their 50,000 fans cheering them on.
“They need the points to get over the line and get back into the Premiership but we will take heart from what we have done and the good results we have had throughout the season.
“But the players have to show determination to be better and harder to beat than they have in the last three games.”
Newcastle United look set to bounce back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The North East club spent over £40 -million pounds in the summer but the boss feels they have spent well and accumulated great squad depth.
“I think everybody saw their squad when they came into the league.
“I think Rafa Benitez has got players in to cope with the Championship and know how to get out of it.
“People will say they have spent a lot of money but they have replace people they have lost for large sums and balancing the books.
“It has gone a long way to getting them back in the Premiership but we want to do something about that.
“Hopefully my players will go out and make it as uncomfortable night as possible for the Newcastle players.”
