Tom Clarke Signs New Contract

6 September 2016

Skipper Tom Clarke has completed the paperwork on a new three-year deal at Deepdale, until the summer of 2019.

The North End No.5, who wrote his name into PNE history scoring the winner against local rivals Blackpool on just his second start for the club after joining from Huddersfield Town in 2013, is the third current player to complete new terms in the past couple of weeks.

The 28-year-old joins fellow defender Paul Huntington and midfielder Daniel Johnson in committing his long-term future to the Lilywhites.

Speaking about his new deal the Halifax-born defender said: “I’m just glad that it’s over the line now. I’ve been in talks for a while so I'm just happy that it’s done and now I can concentrate on the football."

Manager Simon Grayson was delighted that his captain had signed a new contract, adding: “Tom has been here for a few years now and has been a very consistent performer. He is a whole-hearted player and like other members of the squad we wanted to try and secure him for the long term.

“He is still a willing learner, but he has valuable experience to share with the younger players in the squad, so we are delighted to add to the hard core who are with us for an extended period of time.”
