Alan Browne Gets New Contract Until 2019

14 March 2016

Irish midfielder Alan Browne has signed a new contract with Preston North End until the summer of 2019.

The 20-year-old, who signed from Cork City in January 2014, had 18 months left on his current deal, but has now agreed terms on a new three-and-a-half-year deal at Deepdale.

Since joining the Club the No.16 has made 75 appearances for the Lilywhites, with over 30 of those coming since promotion to the Championship.

The U21 international has also recently been called up to train with Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad in the upcoming international break and will hoping to be fit having missed the weekend’s trip to Bolton due to a slight hip flexor injury.

Speaking about the new contract Alan said: “I have signed a couple of new contracts in my short time here and I think it just shows my progression.

“The period last year where I wasn't playing was a big part in my career, I had to keep myself focused and ready for any chance that has gone.

“This season it's been easier for me being around the squad more. It has been good for me and I am looking forward to the rest of the season now.”

Manager Simon Grayson added: “Alan is still a young man and he is progressing all the time. We are looking forward to continue working with him and seeing his career develop with Preston North End.”
