Alan Browne: “We Were The Better Team”

21 November 2015

Irish midfielder Alan Browne felt his side’s efforts were more than worthy of getting something out of the clash with Paul Lambert’s Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking to PNE PlayerHD after the game the North End No.16 said that the Lilywhites didn’t get what they deserved in the heated derby environment.

“Over the 90 minutes we were the better team,” he told the Club’s online TV channel. “We played some good football and in the second half in particular we looked like we could get that goal.

“Their second goal killed the momentum a bit, but we responded well and deserved more from the game.

“Our record over the last six games has been solid and today it has taken a freak goal and a penalty to beat us and we don’t deserve it.”

He now wants the dressing room to bounce straight back at Fulham next week and he thinks Joe Garner getting off the mark will be a big boost to everyone.

“I was delighted for Garns,” he added. “I am sure it will be a relief for him and it is a boost for all of us in the team, knowing that he is back on the scoresheet – it will certainly help his confidence.

“I loved the experience [of playing in a derby]. The fans were quality and I just tried to put myself about, but at the end of the day it is all about the three points and we didn’t get them today.

“Every day in this league is a big game and we have some challenges over the next few weeks and hopefully we can bounce back quickly and push up that table.”
