Another Accolade For Joe Garner

29 April 2015

Joe Garner has another piece of silverware for his every growing trophy cabinet, this time the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month Award.

Garner received the award for the month of March after netting six times in six games, his most memorable game coming against Crewe Alexandra at Deepdale where he netted four times.

He also grabbed what could prove to be one of two pivotal goals as a rampant Preston North End comfortably beat MK Dons 2-0 on the road in the midst of their current 18 game unbeaten run.

Since then, Garner has scored an additional five times, including his third hat trick of the campaign, his latest coming against Swindon Town on Saturday.

But it was his achievements last month that earned him his latest accolade, presented to him by PFA Community Liaison Executive Dennis Leman at Springfields.

Garner, who was named in the PFA League One Team of the Year, was also named League One Player of the Year and received the Mitre Goal of the Year trophy at the recent Football League Awards for his strike in the Play-Off semi-final against Rotherham United last season.

Garner’s latest memento of a memorable season to date was voted for by the fans with one trophy for a player in each division.

In addition to receiving the trophy, Garner, who has netted 25 times this season, has won an entire football kit which he has been able to donate to a youth team or school of his choosing.

The Sondico kit, consisting of 15 outfield shirts, one goalkeeper shirt and 16 pairs of shorts and socks, has been donated by the league’s top goalscorer to Ribblesdale High School where Garner was a pupil.

The kit will be green and white in colour for the U13s team.

Congratulations to Joe and to Ribblesdale High School.
