Bailey Wright admits he and his team-mates are looking at this weekend’s fixture as a way of making amends from the last time the pair met.
Wright was an unused substitute when North End were beaten 3-1 by the West Yorkshire outfit on Boxing Day, and Wright conceded the team didn’t do themselves justice that day.
“We were more disappointed than anybody with our last performance against them,” admitted Wright to PNE Player this morning.
“Obviously it was a big day with it being Boxing Day so we wanted it to go well and of course it didn’t, but we dusted ourselves off and we got a few good results after that.”
The away loss against Town sparked a run which saw North End pick up nine points from nine - and after a point against high-flying Derby in mid-week following the Brentford loss the last time out at Deepdale, Wright is hoping for a similar reaction to one that saw the Lilywhites unbeaten in the league for four games.
“We’ve never been the type of team to get too down when we lose,” continued the Aussie. “We know when we lose there are things you need to look at to make sure you put it right and that’s what we’ve done.
“In this league and throughout this season there’s going to be blips like the Brentford game but it’s how you react to them that shows your character.
“No matter what team you are, you’re going to lose football matches and sometimes it’s going to be by a few goals but it’s how you respond. We’ve done that well but there’s still a lot of football to be played.
“It’s on home soil and we’ll be looking to put things right against Huddersfield on Saturday. They’ve got some quality and if you let them play, they’ll play, so we know that we have to be on top of our game.”
Reacting to making it clean sheet number 13 this campaign, the defender added: “Last year, we were a team that prided ourselves on keeping clean sheets - we know that this year we're in a tougher division, but we didn’t see any reason why we couldn’t back ourselves to continue to keep clean sheets – we know if we keep a clean sheet, we’re more likely to win games.”
