“I obviously spoke to them, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t but the Club didn’t need selling, there were a few other teams interested but I was always coming here as long as they could sort out a deal with Leeds United.”

He continued by saying: “The table doesn’t lie but I know exactly what the Club us about, the gaffer obviously sold the Club to me but it didn’t need selling.
Admitting the Club sold itself despite interest from other football clubs, Connolly is ready to team up with a couple of familiar faces.
Describing North End as a sleeping giant, Connolly has experienced playing against the Club on numerous occasions during his time at Plymouth Argyle.
“I have always played regularly wherever I have been, now and again you find yourself out of the team due to form but never for a long spell of time. This is the longest spell I have been out and it has been tough.”
“I was given five days off by the manager at Leeds over Christmas and I hated it because I was at home in Liverpool with the family eating as much Turkey as I could and I didn’t have a game the next day, it was strange and it didn’t feel right. I didn’t enjoy one minute of it.
“It has been tough but I am here now and I want to show people what I have got because at times like this you start to doubt yourself and you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t. It is great to be here and to get everything signed and hopefully I will play my part on Saturday.
“It is nice to let people know I am still alive, I have been really in the doldrums the last few months and I have been a tough person to live with, I am sure my girlfriend will vouch for that,” admitted Connolly.
A former captain at Derby County, Connolly is chomping at the bit and can’t wait to help North End climb the League One table, starting this weekend with a lengthy away trip to Yeovil Town.
The 29-year-old joins Graham Westley’s men on loan from Championship outfit Leeds United until the end of the season.
