Cunningham: ‘I Already Feel Part Of The Squad’

27 July 2015

New signing Greg Cunningham says that spending time with the squad in Scotland has made it very easy to settle in quickly.

The Irish international, who will take the No.3 shirt at Deepdale, finally completed his move on Monday afternoon – having had to wait a few days due to paperwork coming from Portugal, London, Bristol, Scotland and Preston!

But having finalised the move the 24-year-old told PNE.Com he was looking forward to getting started: “I had a year left on my contract at Bristol City, but with my football being limited last year I was looking to get out and get games and when the gaffer and Preston showed an interest I came back early from Portugal and I am now delighted to have signed for the next two years.

“I am delighted to be here and am looking forward to Championship football.

“I know Killa [Neil Kilkenny] from when he was at Bristol City and I played on loan with Gally [Paul Gallagher] at Leicester a few years ago. But I know all about the rest of the squad; Joe Garner, League One player of the year, Beckford sign on, there’s a great squad here and when the gaffer was interested I was delighted to get signed up and I am looking forward to a fantastic couple of years.

“Being in the hotel and being around the boys all day, every day at the hotel has been great to get to know them. If we’d been back in Preston then everyone would have gone home, but here we are eating together, training, spending time together doing stuff and I feel really settled already even though I’ve only been here a couple of days.

“All the players and staff have been really welcoming and I already feel a full part of the squad.

“Everything is done and dusted and hopefully I will get some game time against Carlisle on Tuesday, I am really looking forward to it.”
