DJ: “We’ll Take Every Game Step By Step”

1 February 2016

Daniel Johnson told PNE PlayerHD he and his team-mates are taking every game as it comes ahead of the Lilywhites’ away trip to Derby on Tuesday night.

North End will have had a full 10 days to prepare for the away date at Derby tomorrow, whilst the Rams were forced to concentrate their efforts on Premier League heavyweights Manchester United in the FA Cup on Friday.

Johnson however is refusing to take that into consideration stating he and the North End players will be focused on their own game as they aim to add to Derby’s record that has seen them without a league win in 2016.

“They have threats and really good players of course but we’re going into the game concentrating on ourselves because we know what we’re capable of,” said DJ to PNE PlayerHD prior to this morning’s training session.

“I wouldn’t say there’s pressure on us because a lot of people would expect them to win the game but they’ve not been on a good run recently, and hopefully we can come in and cause an upset.

“We’re in a good place at the moment so for this next couple of months we have to focus on picking up as many points as we can.

“It’s getting to the crucial time in the season - we have to take every game step by step so we’ll concentrate solely on Derby, and then we’ll think about Huddersfield on Saturday.”

On preparations ahead of the mid-week fixture, he added: “The gaffer has given us a good few days off to recover – we’ve been coming in and doing a lot of work on the training field so hopefully it pays off tomorrow with them having the game on Friday, so we can go into the game fresh.”
