Double Success For PNE Girls

27 April 2015

It was double delight for PNE’s Girls’ teams on Sunday as the U14s and U16s both collected silverware.

In the Lancs FA County Youth Cup Final, the U14s ran out convincing winners, defeating Moston Brook, an unknown quantity from the North Manchester League 6-2.

The U16s then followed that victory by beating Burnley 4-0 in their age bracket equivalent of the same competition.

The U14s started the day with some fantastic news before a ball was even kicked; results on Saturday meaning they had claimed the U14s league championship for the 2014/15 season – the girls unbeaten so far this season with three more games to play.

And they started the match on Sunday in the same red hot form they had shown in the league, cruising into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes.

At half-time they lead 6-1, Moston Brook’s consolation goal the only action of note in the second half to give the young Lilywhites a 6-2 win.

So with one trophy already in the bag, the U16s took centre stage.

Like the U14s, they had already sampled success before Sunday, the U16s defeating Blackburn CSC 2-1 in the West Lancs Girls League Cup Final earlier in the year.

And on Sunday, despite a good start by the Clarets, North End looked set to do the double as they led 2-0 at the interval.

By full-time they had netted four to make it double delight on the day for the Club.

The U16s have one more league fixture remaining in the 2014/15 season before they move on from the junior section of the Club.

Preston North End would like to wish the girls all the best in their future careers and a huge well done to both teams on their success this season.
