Elding Joins On Loan

15 November 2012

Striker Anthony Elding has agreed an emergency loan deal to Deepdale until January 1st 2013 and goes straight into the squad for the weekend’s clash with Brentford.

The frontman joins on loan from Blue Square Premier side Grimsby Town, who currently sit in second place in the top non-league division, and has been given the No.37 squad number for the Lilywhites.

The Boston-born 30-year-old started his career with Boston United and has worked with manager Graham Westley before during a three-year spell at Stevenage in the mid noughties, scoring 50 times for Boro in 106 league appearances.

He went on to have league spells with Stockport, Crewe, Leeds United and Rochdale, but also had a short spell with Hungarian side Ferencváros in 2010, under the management of Craig Short, finishing the season as their top scorer with eight goals in 15 appearances.

The frontman’s loan takes in the period up to and including the clash with Hartlepool United on new year’s day, with permission granted to play in the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy, although he is cup tied for North End’s FA Cup second round clash with Gillingham on 1st December.

Full interviews and reactions from the player and manager will appear on PNE.Com and PNE Player later on in the day.
