North End make their first trip to The Shay for 26 years in their latest pre-season friendly fixture.
The Shaymen, under the management of Neil Aspin – a former team-mate of Simon Grayson at Leeds – have moved up the divisions and almost got back into the League last season, losing in the Play-Offs to eventual promotion winners Cambridge United.
They were they spearheaded by star attraction Lee Gregory, who made the big move to the Championship in the summer, signing for Millwall, however, with wins over Rochdale and Barnsley already under their belts, it looks like the team will again be challenging in 2014/15.
Having split his squad, to allow most of the players to get 60 to 70 minutes under their belts over the 48 hours, the likes of Joe Garner, Paul Gallagher, Kevin Davies – who all watched from the stands at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium – will get starts with a longer run out at The Shay.
Lee Holmes and Kyel Reid continue to be the only players not getting time under their belts, although both are working hard with physio Matt Jackson and the fitness staff, in order to return to full training as soon as possible.
To get to The Shay head across to the M62, then at junction 24 take the A629 exit to Huddersfield/Halifax. At the first roundabout take the third exit onto the A629 and go straight ahead at the second roundabout.
Turn right onto Huddersfield Road and continue onto Shaw Hill. The stadium will be on the left. The stadium’s post code is HX1 2YS.
Tickets will be on sale on the night in the main stand at The Shay, which are priced as follows: adults are priced at £8, concessions available at £6, whilst U16s are £3 and U7s free when accompanied by a paying adult.
PNE Player will have full match commentary with Jonathan Breeze, on air from 7.15pm; with coverage also available through our social media channels. Highlights and reaction will be available on PNE Player and PNE.Com on Thursday morning.
