Gaffer Expecting Tough Final Test At The Hands Of Bury

30 July 2015

PNE face Bury in their final pre-season game and manager Simon Grayson expects the newly promoted side to provide a good test for his team.

The gaffer takes his squad to Gigg Lane to face David Flitcroft's side as the final stage of preparation ahead of the Club's return to the Championship and the gaffer was complimentary of the Shakers' achievements.

"Flitty [Flitcroft] did really well last year, they did ever so well, and they will be looking to carry on the momentum from League Two into League One this year so it's a good test for us.

"That's why we chose the fixture in the first place. We've mentioned before that we could have faced foreign opposition but this will be a proper English game.  Both teams are using it as their last pre-season game ready for the start of the season and I'm looking forward to it.

"From their signings this summer it shows their intentions this year, they're not just going into League One to make up the numbers. They've recruited really well, they've got experienced players and some hungry and enthusiastic lads as well.

"They've given a good account of themselves in pre-season so far and I'm hoping they have a really successful season, so it's going to be a really good test for us."
