Gaffer Frustrated After Dramatic Finish

15 November 2014

Preston North End boss Simon Grayson was left to rue a lack of concentration from his side after conceding almost straight after Joe Garner’s equaliser this afternoon.

Bradford took a first-half lead through Rory McArdle and looked in the ascendency but the Lilywhites responded well in the second-half in their attempts to get back into the match.

But it took 40 minutes after the restart for North End to finally find the net through Garner, his 11th of the season, only for Mark Yeates to run up the other end and restore Bradford’s lead just a minute later.

“People always say that you’re most vulnerable when you’ve scored, but the players should know that the first thing they’ve got to do is get the ball back quickly and stop the opposition, and make sure they don’t have an opportunity to play it forward,” said Grayson following Preston’s first league defeat at home in 20 games.

“We allowed the lad too much time to put the ball in the back of the net, and these are things that players have to learn from themselves and take responsibility.

“We have to do better from the start of the game - we wasn’t even in second gear in the first-half - we obviously raised our game, but we need to be in fifth gear from the start.

“The players know they have to do better in certain situations so we’ll be on the training ground Monday - there’s no bigger game then going to Bristol City this weekend and we want a reaction again from the players.”
