Preston North End striker Joe Garner viewed the Club’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United as ‘two points dropped’.
The Lilywhites shared the spoils with Nigel Clough’s side at Deepdale after Andy Little’s early goal was cancelled out by Jose Baxter’s deflected effort.
Simon Grayson’s charges were on the front foot throughout an entertaining second half and had numerous chances to score a winner.
Speaking exclusively to PNE.Com following the match, Garner spoke of North End’s disappointment at the result.
“I think the lads feel as if it is two points dropped really,” he said.
“We had a few chances, their goalkeeper has made a few of good saves but I think if you look at the game as a whole a draw is probably a fair result.”
Jack King looked to have put Preston back in the lead deep into the second half with a point blank header but the officials decided it hadn’t crossed the goal-line.
Garner, who was on the pitch at the time of the incident, believes the Lilywhites should have been awarded a goal, saying: “From where I was, I thought it was in but the linesman didn’t give it.”
Jordan Hugill, a 64th minute substitute, linked up well in attack with Garner and helped create chances for the hosts using his imposing physicality.
The former Port Vale forward, who joined the Lilywhites during the summer, was praised by his strike partner following the positive impact he made.
“Jordan is a really good player, he’s a big boy who puts himself about,” Garner said.
“When he came on in the last 15 minutes I think the atmosphere changed a little bit and we nearly got that winning goal between the two of us.”
