Preston North End’s Joe Garner was delighted with his and his teammates’ performance as Swindon Town were swept aside at Deepdale.
Garner scored in the first and last minute of the first half before rounding off his hat-trick by heading home Jermaine Beckford’s shot which came back off the crossbar; taking his tally for the season to 25.
And the League One player of the year says that the victory was a big result in PNE’s promotion push.
“It is a massive three points for us and sends us into the last game knowing that if we win we get promoted, so it is a big three points,” said Garner.
“The lads played well out there and I’m just happy to come away with the points.
“We had a game plan and went through them [Swindon Town] during the week.
“The gaffer set out how he wanted to play and the lads knew how we wanted to play and it came off.”
