Huntington, Johnson And Stuckmann Scoop Preston Supporters Group Awards

22 May 2015

Preston North End trio Paul Huntington, Daniel Johnson and Thorsten Stuckmann have collected the honours from the PSG for the 2014/15 season.

After an outstanding season following his reintroduction to the starting XI in league business away at Gillingham; a game in which he scored, Paul Huntington was named the group’s Player of the Year.

January signing Daniel Johnson was awarded the Young Player of the Year gong and Thorsten Stuckmann was also recognised with the Personality of the Year Award.

Huntington has been a rock in the PNE defensive line since that return back in October.

And the former Newcastle United man has been a constant threat in the opposition box too, netting eight times in all competitions.

Another man to make an impact is Johnson, a £50,000 signing from FA Cup finalists Aston Villa in January.

Johnson made his North End debut in a 2-1 defeat away at Crawley Town on the final day of January – a defeat which was to be the Lilywhites’ last in Sky Bet League One action for three months; Johnson’s arrival playing a big part in that as he contributed eight goals.

The final award was given to consummate professional Stuckmann.

The German stopper became the club’s cup specialist as he played in all but one round of North End’s FA Cup run which culminated in a special night at Deepdale when Preston went head-to-head with Manchester United.

But it was his calmness personified in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy which gave him the edge in the vote, Stuckmann firing home the winning penalty against Oldham Athletic to give the Lilywhites a 10-9 spot kick win.

The votes were cast by the members of the Preston Supporters Group and the trophies were presented to the three winners by Geoff Ollerton.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the Preston Supporters Group.
