Top goal scorer Joe Garner knows exactly what the fans have gone through this season from the lows of Colchester to the highs of Chesterfield.
That’s of course because he was once on the Deepdale terraces himself growing up as a Preston North End supporter.
Garner has been through the ups and downs that come with the territory, as a fan and as a player during his time at Preston.
And there’s one particular low he’d like to relinquish this weekend – the last time he went to Wembley with a Preston persuasion.
“You could say it might be a bit more special for me personally growing up as a Preston fan,” said Garner.
“I went to the 1994 Play-Off final against Wycombe and we lost 4-2 and I travelled down with my family then. To be out there playing will be a special occasion for myself.
“The ups and downs is what football is about - One minute you’re down and the next you’re up. It’s a level playing field. The game against Chesterfield was obviously a great feeling, but we knew the job wasn’t done, and we spoke about that in the changing room. We are half way there to where we want to be.
“We want the supporters to make the most of the day – it doesn’t come around often to see your team to play in my eyes at the best stadium in the world so make the most of it and hopefully we can give them a good day out.
“To score any goal at Wembley would be a great feeling but to do that with the team I supported would be nice.”
Garner is one of a number of players that have gone through the trials and tribulations of a Play-Off campaign before, and he admits they’ll be looking to use that experience come Sunday at Wembley.
He continued: “Preparations are going good – the gaffer’s set us up the way we need to set-up – we’re working hard and looking forward to the game.
“Swindon are a good side and play some nice football – they’ve had a good year and their manager’s got his own style.
“But a lot of us have been there before like the gaffer – he’s been there and done it and we’ll be using his experience to hopefully go out there and do the job.
“If you can go up through the Play-Offs it’s obviously the best way to do it. We’ve got a massive chance now to go there and perform as well as we can.”
