Craig Davies wants Preston North End to keep the points total ticking over with a win against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
Speaking exclusively to PNE.Com, the on loan front man is confident that as long as the Lilywhites continue to pick up points and avoid defeats between now and May, then they will be where they want to be come the end of the season.
Davies said: “My thoughts ahead of Rotherham are just to get more points on the board.
“I just think we need to keep picking up more points, obviously we want wins, but draws mean you are not losing either and you are continuing to pick up points.
“If you can keep doing that, then you just wait and see where that leaves us in two months times.
“If we just keep picking up points and adding them up, then come the end of the season, hopefully we will be where we want to be.
“The gap is 13 points to Walsall outside of the Play-Offs so we are in a good position.
“We should be looking to get points to catch the teams above us rather than looking behind us and I don’t see why we can’t catch the other teams in front of us.
“Leyton Orient are top and we played them last Saturday and I think everybody was disappointed that we come off with a draw.
“All the boys were disappointed and I know that I was disappointed myself and I thought that they were there for the taking and I don’t see any reason why we can’t catch them.
“You have to always be cautious about teams behind you because before you know it, teams can just sneak up.
“But at the same time, I think if we just keep concentrating on the teams up ahead, then they will need to have a little look over their shoulder and watch out for us as well and be worried about us.”
It has been a good start to Davies’ loan spell from Bolton Wanderers, the Wales international scoring on his debut and contributing in various other positive ways since his arrival.
And he is looking to continue his good form in a league he is still adapting to.
“The main reason I came here was to play regularly and I have been doing that so I am happy,” added the striker.
“I would probably have liked to get one or two more goals, but these things sometimes take time to come.
“I have got one goal and two penalties and an assist, so I need to look at the positives.
“I’m just happy to be contributing, that is better than nothing and there are one or two more things I will be demanding off myself and hopefully they will come.
“It is different playing in League One compared to the Championship, a lot different.
“I’m in a good team now as well though and that is always a good thing but it is a bit different in the league.
“League One is a little bit faster and a bit more in your face, but like I said, I am playing for a good team and at a good Club and when we play at home, I think we are a good footballing team, so we should play most teams off the park.
“Everyone has been fine since I have joined the Club, we have got some good results as well and touch wood, I haven’t been on a losing team since I have been here so hopefully we can keep that up.”
