Kevin Davies Delighted To Play His Part

27 October 2014

North End striker Kevin Davies was delighted to play a part in the win over Fleetwood at the weekend and tells PNE Player of the hard work put in to his return from injury.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's trip to Leyton Orient, the 37-year-old admits it has been a challenge but is now happy to be back making an impact for the Lilywhites as he did on Saturday in the superb comeback at Deepdale.

"You just do what you can do, I think when you've been playing for so long, when you get a little set back, you do come back hungrier and we had two or three good weeks training with our fitness coach.

"We had a little side bet on and stuff and I just said I'm not a big fan of being injured, I hate being injured and I can't remember the last time I was injured so it was just an opportunity to keep the fitness up really, have a bit of a challenge, a bit of a laugh and just worked really hard and I enjoyed the challenge.

"But it's always good to get back trainig with the lads and back involved with the first team and ultimatley out there at the weekend playing, so it's good to be back and just enjoying it, and it's nice to get out there and play some part again."

Speaking of Leyton Orient, the front man added : "We know we can't take anything for granted, I know they've had a not so great start to the season but there's no easy games as such, we have to go and earn everything we get now."
