Laird Bemoans Punishment For Slip In Concentration

15 November 2014

Scott Laird was disappointed that Preston North End lost focus following their late equaliser against Bradford City; allowing the visitors to snatch a last gasp victory.

Joe Garner’s close range finished looked to have won the Lilywhites a point but the Bantams immediately hit back through Mark Yeates.

And the defeat left Laird disappointed and frustrated, especially the manner of the late goal.

“We make a big point of, especially when we score, to win the ball back as quickly as we can, and you see what this league can do with a quick lapse in concentration, it will punish you,” stated Laird.

“We did very well to get ourselves back in the game, their ‘keeper was in inspired form second half, we got ourselves back in the game and then we chucked it away.

“We started slow again first half and let them into the game, especially as you have seen in seasons past, teams come to Deepdale, get a goal up, and then sit back and try and hit you on the counter attack, and
Bradford are a very good team at that style of play.

“They do it very well, they got one goal ahead and they just saw it out in the end.”
