Morecambe v PNE, Friday 25th July, 7.30pm

24 July 2014

Simon Grayson cranks the North End pre-season up a level with a trip to the Globe Arena for the club’s third game in five days.

Fresh off the back of wins on consecutive nights against Bamber Bridge and FC Halifax Town respectively, it is an inter-Lancashire clash next up for the Lilywhites before the boys head back to Deepdale to conclude their friendly schedule.

The Shrimps finished Sky Bet League Two last season in 18th place, but that final placing doesn’t tell the full story; Morecambe able to boast a nine match undefeated run in all competitions last season.

This will be boss Jim Bentley’s fourth season with the Club in a management capacity – although he also made 328 appearances for the side from 2002 to 2011; making it a 14 year association with Morecambe.

North End fans may recognise the face of Andreas Arestidou if he takes up the role of Morecambe custodian on the night, the 24 year-old having been a Lilywhite for two years making ten appearances in total.

In all likelihood, Preston manager Grayson will adapt a similar approach to Friday night’s fixture as he did to Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the Shaymen, with the majority of his squad expected to get game time.

Kyel Reid still continues his rehabilitation from knee surgery and winger Lee Holmes will miss out once more.

There are also question marks over Paul Huntington who broke a bone in his hand against Liverpool on Saturday.

North End fans face a 28 mile drive to the Globe Arena, heading north on the M6 before exiting at J34 onto the A683.

Continue on the A683 for approximately five miles then take the B5321 before turning left onto Moss Lane and finally turning right onto Bateman Road.

Tickets are currently on sale from the Globe Arena Club Shop, with the excellent offer of up to three free U14 tickets if accompanied by one adult paying full price – this offer is not available on the turnstiles.
