Pickford Ready For The Challenge Of The Championship

31 July 2015

Having played at various levels of English football, new loan signing Jordan Pickford feels he is ready to compete in the Championship.

After the England U20s international completed the season-long loan deal, he spoke exclusively to PNE PlayerHD about the move.

"I got the phone call from my agent last night and asked if I fancied it and obviously I said yes. It's a great chance for me to play in the Championship, I've played in the Conference, League Two and League One and this is the next step up for me which is going to be a good test for me."

"I've had a really good pre-season so I've got that under my belt, I'm feeling fit and I'm just raring to go now.

"Obviously I've played in League One and you're just getting tested week in week out so I've got that experience under my belt. Now I'm just going to get my head down and work and hopefully get better and better.

"Playing Championship football is a massive step for me and I feel I am ready for it and I want to do my best.

The 21-year-old was greeted by the management staff upon his arrival at Deepdale, and he was appreciative of the warm welcome.

"It was great to feel welcome straight away, it was nice that Alan Kelly, the goalkeeping coach was here as well. Everyone was really good with me when I arrived and now I just need to meet the lads tomorrow and get ready for the game next Sunday."
