PLAYER: Simon Grayson ‘Players Playing With Confidence'

18 October 2014

Speaking after the Lilywhites’ 2-0 victory over Port Vale, Simon Grayson was pleased to acknowledge the self-belief installed within his squad.

Goals from Paul Gallagher and Alan Browne ensures Preston climb to joint third in the table; their fifth victory in as many games to complement another impressive performance from Simon Grayson’s outfit.

Grayson, who had 11 days to prepare his side for today’s clash due to the international break admitted to PNE Player that the confidence on show at Deepdale this afternoon is key momentum going into Tuesday’s trip to Gillingham, with Gallagher and Dave Buchanan in particular showing bags of confidence.

“We started the game a little bit slow but we grew into it and moved the ball a bit more quickly, so to finish the game with a clean sheet and three points is obviously pleasing,” recognised Grayson after the final whistle.

“We’ve got players playing with confidence. We’ve worked extremely hard on certain aspects of the pitch in training this week and that came to fruition today.

“He’s [Gallagher] playing with belief; he’s shooting from distance where probably at the early part of the season he might have took the safer option.

“But all of the players are all playing with confidence right throughout the squad and we’re playing very well at this moment in time.

“Nobody more so then David Buchanan who thoroughly deserved his man of the match award today. He’s a fantastic professional and leads by example.”
