Preston North End Agree To Sign Goalkeeper Jamie Jones

6 June 2014

Preston North End have agreed to sign Jamie Jones with the shot stopper joining the Club from Leyton Orient.

Jones will become a Lilywhites from 1st July on a two year contract after six years at the Matchroom Stadium.

A product of the Everton Academy, 25-year-old Jones made 179 appearances for the O’s, his debut coming in a 4-2 victory over Southend.

Jones joins PNE following Declan Rudd’s return to his parent Club Norwich City at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Speaking of the deal, Preston manager Simon Grayson said: “Jamie has had two good years at Orient, being at the top end of the division, being very consistent and he is still young with lots of improving still to be done and we feel he will fit in well to the group.”

The Orient No.1 was a vital cog in the London club’s 2013/14 League One campaign which saw them narrowly miss out on promotion to the Championship following defeat on penalties at the national stadium to Rotherham United.

The O’s were keen to hold on to their custodian, offering him a new contract, but he has instead opted to head back up north to Deepdale.
