Preston North End Introduces Walking Football

23 March 2015

Walking Football, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game aimed at the over 50s, has arrived in Preston.

It is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle despite their age, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.

It is a non-contact sport, and anyone who sprints, jogs or runs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free-kick awarded to the other team.

Throughout the game, there are plenty of breaks for stretching and water breaks, and a full medical screening is advised before you take part.

The sessions run by PNE will start from Friday 27th March and are for men and women over 50.

Sessions will then take place every Friday from 11am to 1pm at PlayFootball.Net in Ingol, Preston.

There is a £3 charge for the two-hour session, which also includes refreshments for all participants.

The first hour is spent playing the game and is followed by a ‘socialising’ hour with coffee, tea, refreshments and games such as dominoes and cards, along with newspapers and the art of conversation!

So if you are over 50 and want to take part, or want more information, contact the PNE community department on 01772 693309 or email community@pne.com.
