Preston North End have announced which players will be leaving and which will be remaining at Deepdale for the 2014/15 season.
The following players have had the 12 month options on their contracts triggered and will remain at Deepdale:
Ben Davies
Steven James
Speaking about Davies' successful season with York City, Simon Grayson said: “For a young player like Ben Davies to have played 40 odd games is unbelievable.
“To gather that wealth of experience and help turn around a season for York City, because it was only around Christmas time when they were in the bottom three or four and then went on an unbelievable run.
“I have been delighted with Ben and Nigel Worthington has been updating us all the time and he is absolutely ecstatic at how well Ben has done, so he will come back here next year and will hopefully be pushing the likes of Scott Laird and David Buchanan for that left back role."
The following players have been informed that they will not be offered new deals with North End and have left the Club:
Nicky Wroe
Graham Cummins
John Mousinho
Ryan Croasdale
Chris Beardsley
Alex Nicholson
Discussing the list of players who will be leaving Preston, Grayson continued: “These decisions have to be made, most of these players have been out on loan at different clubs and have been successful with one or two of them and we move on as a football club.
“Squads evolve, players leave and new ones come in, but what I will do is wish those players good luck in the future.
“They have played a part in this football club and they have been fantastic professionals, never having one moment of trouble with them whether they have been in the team or not.
“They have all worked extremely hard and will go on to pastures new and I’m sure they will get new clubs and hopefully have a few more successful years because they are good lads and it is good to have that.”
As revealed on Monday, the following Academy graduates have been offered professional terms:
Jack Ryan
Nick Anderton
The following loan players which were also part of Simon Grayson’s first team squad have now returned to their parent clubs:
Paul Gallagher
Declan Rudd
Craig Davies
Decisions will be made on the futures of Iain Hume and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff when they return from their current loan spells with Fleetwood Town and Burton Albion respectively.
The rest of Simon Grayson's squad are contracted at the Club for 2014/15 and will join the players listed above who are remaining for pre-season in July.
Everyone at Preston North End would like to thank the players that are leaving the Club for their efforts whilst at Deepdale and we wish them well in their future endeavours.
