Manager Simon Grayson followed up the appeal for good behaviour at away games, by stressing the importance of a vocal backing at Yeovil this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the south west the Lilywhites chief was delighted with the backing received in the recent run of long away trips and was hopeful that with two of the last few ‘treks’ around the corner, the team could send the fans home happy.
“They are brilliant – the numbers we get following us and the vocal backing we are given, it is fantastic,” said the gaffer of the fans.
“They need to be a bit careful with some of the fireworks they have been throwing around – I plead to the fans to stop that and make their feeling known with the vocal support.
“It’s another long trip for them and we will be prepared in the right manner, like we always do, and once we get this and the Peterborough game out of the way, the journeys within two hours after Christmas will feel like home games!”
Yeovil find themselves in the bottom four currently, however, an excellent win over high-flying Notts County last weekend and their performances in recent weeks shows their league position is not a true reflection of where they should be.
“I think any team that comes out of the Championship, their first intent will be to get back into it,” continued Simon. “They have had a bit of a change of personnel, but we have watched them the past few weeks and they haven’t got the results their performances have deserved – with the way that they play and the players they have got.
“I am sure Lee Johnson will have given his dad the lowdown on the way that we play after the other night, but we won’t underestimate anyone.
“We go with the same attitude and the same sort of desire we had in our trip to Bristol City. Every point is vital for our campaign of trying to be in that top two.”
And with five away wins already in the bank, North End will be heading to Huish Park with an intent of trying to bring the three points back up to Lancashire.
“We are confident that any game we go into we can win. That’s our philosophy. We are respectful of our opponents, but we go into every game believing that if we play to the best of our ability, we can win.
“If you look at our results away from home we have tried to win every game possible, and for large parts we have achieved that,” he added.
