Simon Grayson Disappointed But Not Despondent

29 March 2015

Preston North End boss Simon Grayson was left frustrated following his side’s 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town at Highbury.

The Lilywhiites got off to a flyer through Daniel Johnson, but David Ball’s sublime finish with five minutes of regulation time left meant North end had to settle for a share of the spoils to make it 11 games undefeated.

But with Ball’s goal being the Cod Army’s first shot on target of the afternoon, Grayson and his players found that a bitter pill to swallow as he stated post match when asked about that stat: “That’s why it is so frustrating, that’s why we are disappointed in the dressing room.

“We are disappointed but we are not despondent. It is a game we will look back on where we are comfortable, even up to the goal, there was no real atmosphere in the ground because we had done a professional job.

“We have nullified their threats, we’ve played really well, but unfortunately we have not done the basics right in terms of when to go short, when to go long, when to get tight to people, and that contributed to us not winning the game.”
