Simon Grayson: ‘Molineux A Great Place To Play’

12 February 2016

Manager Simon Grayson is looking forward to taking his side to Wolves on Saturday, but says there is no extra motivation after what happened back in September.

That day the Lilywhites were pegged back in injury-time having held off black country side despite being down to ten men for over an hour and then nine men for the last quarter of an hour.

But the gaffer isn’t overly bothered by what is in the past, but it aware that his side could go into the top half with a win: “The dizzy heights of the top half of the table! We’ll see what happens. The lads are feeling poisitive; they are enjoying what they are doing and we will try and win as many games as we can, keep enjoying what we do and try and get the results.

“We never go out to owe anybody anything, but in that game [in September] we showed some really good qualities. We were down to ten men for an hour and then down to nine men and unfortunately conceded from a fantastic strike.

“We will go there in good spirits trying to put on a performance and get the three points.”

The opponents on Saturday have had consistency with their manager for some time now and this has allowed them to build and the PNE boss thinks it’s another good test.

“Wolves is a football club that have a manager who has been there for a good period of time and has shown what he is capable of,” he continued. “They have sold Benik Afobe this season and it is difficult to replace his goals, but they still have a strong squad.

“Molineux is a great venue to go to. They are a team who still have a chance of getting into the Play-Offs, that will still be in their ambition, having just missed out last year, so it is a big test for us.

“We have to go there, carry out our game plan and try and win. We are in a good run of form at the moment, we need to keep that going, keep progressing and try and get as many points as possible.”

A win would take North End above Kenny Jackett’s outfit, but the manager is just happy to keep progressing with each game.

“It is a club that is a big football club that ended up in League One, but got back up very quickly and is going in the right direction again.

“They probably over-achieved last year, but have stuck by Kenny and, like everybody, they want that golden ticket of getting to the Premier League and that’s no different to any club in the Championship.

“Will they be happy if they finish where they currently are in the table? That’s none of my business. If we finish where we are, then we’ll be more than happy and putting the building blocks in place for this football club,” he added.
