Stevie May ‘Ecstatic’ At Move To Family Club

1 September 2015

Stevie May told PNE Player that Preston North End already has the feel of his successful time at St Johnstone after completing his move.

The Scottish international forward signed a three-year contract in PR1 after the Lilywhites agreed a seven-figure transfer from Sheffield Wednesday and he told the Club’s online TV channel how pleased he was to put pen to paper.

“I’m ecstatic to get the deal over the line; it has been a long day but one I am glad is complete,” he said. “I want to play games and I jumped at the chance when Preston North End came in for me.

“It is a big club and one that has tracked me for a long while. There has been a link for about 18 months, so it was nice to come and finally meet everyone and the manager has views I believe in.

“I have spoken to players here I played with last season and they are all in agreement it is the right move for me at this time.

“It made my decision so much easier that I knew the manager had a lot of faith in me. The Club has a real family feel to it, a bigger version of what I felt when I came through at St Johnstone and it is half the battle when you know the manager believes in you.”

For North End fans, the player believes there is one thing they can be guaranteed, a hard-working striker: “The fans can expect hard work from me; that is the thing I think every player’s game should be based upon.

“I personally would see myself as someone playing on the shoulder of the last defender, getting in behind and causing problems.

“I had a lot of chances last season, which I felt I should have taken and now I am looking forward to getting out there and showing what I can do,” added the new No.24.
