Stuart Beavon Knows It’s A Squad Game

20 February 2014

Striker Stuart Beavon believes that the entire squad will be utilised over the remaining 15 matches as PNE vie for a Championship return.

The Preston North End No.10 came off the bench in Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw with MK Dons and he insists there is no complaining from the players chomping at the bit for more game time as the promotion race heads towards the home straight.

In an exclusive interview with PNE.Com, Beavon said: “It is going to be a squad game in these last 15 matches and everybody is going to be needed to chip in at some point.

“It is just about keeping your head down, keep working and when the chance comes then taking it.

“It was nice to get some game time against MK Dons on Tuesday night.

“It has been a little while since I have played and I have just been working hard, but it is nice to get some minutes on the pitch.

“There are a lot of us fighting for a place alongside Joe Garner who is banging in the goals, but there is no complaining by the strikers who are not playing at the minute because the boys on the pitch have been doing the business.”

Colchester United are the latest obstacle placed in front of the Lilywhites who make the long journey south on Saturday.

And Beavon expects nothing other than a tough match against a team that claimed a point at Deepdale back in November in a 1-1 draw.

“We need to go down to Colchester and carry on the way we have been and look forward in terms of picking up the three points again,” continued the front man.

“If we get on top this time like we did in the game at Deepdale, then it is important that we take our chances.

“We have been doing that recently, maybe in the last couple of games that has been different, but we have got plenty of strikers in this squad who are capable of scoring from all angles.

“We just need to take a few more chances.

“We dominated the game at home against them but they scored a goal out of nothing, so we need to make sure that we get the job done down there.

“Colchester are a decent team, it is going to be a tough match.

“We are going to have to prepare the way we prepare for every other game and we need to make sure that we go there and do the business.”
