Stuckmann Praises Team Performance On First Team Return

22 November 2014

North End's Thorsten Stuckmann was delighted to make his first league start of the season at Ashton Gate but admits it was made easier by the fantastic team performance.

Speaking to PNE Player after the victory, Stuckmann tells of his delighted at getting his chance to fight for his place and praised the whole team for an important victory and for playing their part in keeping a clean sheet against League One leaders Bristol City.

"I was really happy and I really looked forward to it and I wasn’t nervous at all because Kells [Alan Kelly] prepares both of us the same week in and week out, you get ready for the matches and I was really looking forward to it and I'm really pleased I finally got my chance.

"I think as a keeper you’re always going to want to keep a clean sheet and for me especially today in my first league game for a year and a half or something, that was all I wanted to do and keep a clean sheet and give the back four the stability from the back like coming for crosses and everything and that’s all I want.

"It’s all I wanted to do today, I just wanted to keep a clean sheet and I think the back four performance and the overall team performance was so good.  I don’t think I had a lot of shots to save and that’s even better for me coming back in a team knowing you’ve got a back four and a whole team in front of you who’s defending for their lives.

"I think we’ve seen that a few times this season in the away games when we score we really are hard to beat and the work rate today of the lads today in front of me was just unbelievable. I think that’s what we have to show over the season to get where we want to go to.”
