Sylvan Ebanks-Blake: “A Great Fixture For The Club”

13 February 2015

North End possess a former Manchester United player in their ranks and the Lilywhites No.40 is excited at the prospect of coming up against his ex-employers.

Cambridge-born Sylvan Ebanks-Blake couldn’t lose when the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup was made.

As long as he and his team-mates did their job and got past Sheffield United, he would either be coming up against his home-town club or the side that gave him his first start in the professional game.

“It’s a great fixture for the Club, the fans, for the players, coaching staff and everyone, massive fixture and I think everyone’s looking forward to it,” he told The One And Only in an exclusive interview ahead of the live BBC1 clash.

“This is a great opportunity to put Preston back on the map. It’s a great Club with a great history and it will be a great tie for the TV, for the fans and for everyone.

“I think everyone will want to make a good account of themselves, naturally, as they do every week, but it’s a great stage to make an account for yourself. Games like this can really kick you on, they really can.

“Everyone can make a name for themselves when you’re playing in these games, but most importantly it’s about performing to the normal level that the boys have been performing and I think we’ll give United a good run and it will be a good game.

“Anything can happen in 90 minutes of football, I’ve said this before and United won’t underestimate us I’m sure because they are professional and we’ll definitely be at them so it’s exciting for everyone involved.~

Ebanks-Blake is the first of a plethora of interviewees in the official matchday programme for the tie with connections to both clubs involved.

Alex Dawson, Michael Appleton, Colin Murdock, David Healy, Danny Pugh, Alan Gowling, Dave Sadler, Warren Joyce and Jon Macken all feature in extended chats.

WWE Superstar Wade Barrett also gives his opinions and admits wanting to dish out some ‘Bad News’ to Manchester United as he watches the game from a tour in Abu Dhabi.

There are the usual 100 packed pages of content with special FA Cup features and look backs to previous cup ties between the side, plus we have our very special 12 pages in the centre of the programme.

These include some fantastic unseen images of Sir Tom Finney, most of them have been sent in by you, the PNE fanbase, as well as others from news agency archives and some from the superb collection of Club historian Ian Rigby.

All this and so much more, still for the fantastic value price of just £3! They will be on sale from Christmas Eve afternoon from the Club shop, online and in person from our sellers inside and outside of Deepdale on matchday.
