Tom Clarke 'Immensely Proud' Of His Teammates

26 September 2015

PNE captain Tom Clarke was immensely proud of his teammates performance in the 1-1 draw with Wolves.

North End were ahead on ten minutes, but an injury time equaliser for Wolves in the second half denied PNE the three points they deserved.

After finishing the game with nine men, Clarke was pleased with the character shown by the players in the circumstances and was proud of the effort put in by each player on the pitch.

"We are gutted, it feels like a loss. We started really well, started brightly and got the goal and did really well.

"We're just disappointed with some decisions that went against us, but I'm immensely proud of the lads today.

"We dealt with everything they had and they threw a lot at us and we couldn't see them hurting us, they only had a couple of changes here and there.

"It was always going to take a 'worldie' goal for them to score and that's what has happened and that's what is frustrating.

"I felt we started brilliantly, got the goal and even when the decision came with Garns [Joe Garner], we still felt we were in control of the game and still creating chances and keeping the ball well and limiting them to few chances.

"We showed great character to play how we did even with ten and then nine men, and we carried on creating chances and we can be immensely proud of every one of the players, everyone's worked so hard for each other."
