The Citizen Zone bus made the latest stop of its Environmental Roadshow at Moor Park with two very special guests on board.

Preston goalkeeper and local lad Andy Lonergan and defender Billy Jones joined forces with the club's community team and Preston City Council to promote the importance of keeping the local environment clean.

After meeting their North End heroes, children then took to the park to partake in a litter pick and to learn the importance of doing their bit to keep the Preston area a cleaner place.

Children were designated into groups to find whatever litter they could and understand how they're actions can make a different within the local community. They weren't alone though, the Deepdale Duck did his bit to help out and to show that caring for the environment can be a fun!

Preston North End's Community manager Gary Robinson, who has spearheaded the roadshow, believes the club has a responsibility to promote care in the environment.

"We have joined up with Preston City Council to help children understand how we can improve our local environment when we all pitch in and give a helping hand.

"Litter picking is a costly task for the local council and the club and Preston City Council wanted to raise awareness of key issues, such as recycling."

The roadshow is full time and visits the local schools to promote key issues such as the environment in a bid to educate the local community and encourage them to do their bit.

Robinson believes that the club has a duty to do this as it is a major influence in the local community.

"Our community department are working hard to try and influence the community in a positive way and this is an issue that is very close to the club's heart.

"Andy Lonergan was born in the area so he was keen to help in any way he could. Also, Billy Jones lives local to the area and was more than happy to help promote the issues which have been raised today."

The Citizen Zone bus will continue its roadshow in the New Year when the club will be hoping to join up with Preston City Council to raise awareness and educate the local community on the burning issues that are currently plaguing the city.
