Environmental Policy

Posted on: Wed 30 Jun 2010

Preston North End FC and the Sir Tom Finney Foundation is committed to minimising the impact of it's activities on the environment.

Protection of the environment in which we operate is part of the Foundation's values and principles, which we consider it to be sound business practice.

Care for the environment is on of our key responsibilities and an important part in the way in which we do business.

The aim of Preston North End FC and the Sir Tom Finney Foundation is to build on previous work and extend our influence across the greater Preston area by providing opportunities for everyone to be involved in the club and sport in some capacity.

In addition of maintaining our current activity of delivering coaching and social activities including the schools environmental and health educational programme, holiday soccer courses, birthday parties, weekend coaching sessions and the Young North Enders Junior Supporter's Club, the Foundation will develop a wide range of initiatives and programmes around social inclusion using education, sports development and health, supporting the grassroots game, provision of opportunities for girls, women and disabled players plus coaches as well as using sport combined with educational activity to address a range of social issues.

We aim to address inequality and work with any individual or group that feels or is currently excluded from sport.

As a charity we rely on attracting funding or investment to deliver and develop the work undertaken and are always looking for new and innovative ways to deliver more.

We work closely in partnership with a range of organisations to deliver activities and programmes, continually looking at ways to develop and expand.

The Foundation will manage the work need to comply with the Environment Agency directives or behalf of Preston North End FC, where home matches are played throughout the Football League season.

The Foundation, through its successful partnership with schools, will seek to develop links to promote environmental issues with children to raise their awareness and how to improvement can be attained.

In this Policy Statement we commit to:
• Seeking to keep wastage to a minimum and maximise the efficient use of materials and resources.
• Protecting the environment by striving to prevent and minimise our contribution of land, air, water and noise.
• Complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice.
• Managing and disposing of all waste in a responsible manner.
• Providing training for our staff so that we all work in accordance with this policy and within an environmentally aware culture.
• Regularly communicating our environmental performance to our employees and other significant stakeholders.
• Developing our management processes to ensure that environmental factors are considered during planning and implementation.
• Monitoring and continuously improving our environmental performance.

In short the policy will:
• Be relevant to the Club's activities and environmental effects.
• Be implemented and maintained involving everybody at the Club.
• Be accessible to the residents of the greater Preston area.
• Show a commitment to continual improvement in environmental performance.
• Set environmental objectives.
• Will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary.
• Be consistent to other football policies.
• Show a commitment to meet and improve on all relevant legislation requirements.
• Be supported by the board of directors at Preston North End FC.
