Alan Kelly Snr

Posted on: Wed 25 Jan 2012

Alan Kelly Snr was arguably Preston's greatest ever import, with the Irish international goalkeeper setting the Club's all-time appearance record with an astounding 513 games in a PNE jersey.

Now honoured permanently at
Deepdale with the Town End having been re-named the Alan Kelly Town End in his honour, the Dublin-born stopper sadly passed away in 2009, but left behind a lasting legacy for both his Club and the game in general.

HIs son Alan Jnr later followed in his footsteps by playing for North End and the Republic of Ireland, and also becoming goalkeeping coach for both sides, whilst another son, Gary, was an Ireland 'B' and U21 international who served several clubs with distinction, most notably Bury and Oldham Athletic.

This section ties together all of the various articles that have been published via pne.com in tribute to one of the Club's all-time greats.
