The National Football Museum is offering something of a treat to supporters who love meeting their heroes to co-incide with Everton's visit to Deepdale for a friendly on Tuesday 22nd July.
A free pre-match signing session with some of Everton's past heroes will take place within the Museum from 4.30pm onwards, but the interest level isn't only restricted to visiting fans, as one of the attendees will be Howard Kendall, who of course played on both sides of the divide and became the youngest player to appear in an FA Cup Final at the time of his Wembley appearance with PNE in 1964.
In addition to Kendall, who has connections with both clubs, further Everton legends set to appear include Graeme Sharp, the legendary 1980s striker and current Century FM pundit; Gordon West, the Toffees goalkeeper during the 1960s and early 1970s; and John Bailey, who played for the club in the 1980s.
In addition to the permanent Preston North End feature that leads visitors towards the Deepdale viewing gallery within the Museum, there are also plenty of great Everton objects for fans to see during their visit. These include the Canon League Trophy won by the club in the 1986/87 season, medals won by Bob Haworth who played for Preston North End and Everton in the 1890s and Tommy Lawton's international cap. Lawton's last resting place is also the National Football Museum - his ashes are on display at the request of his family.
The signing session has been organised by Les Read, who runs a website for Everton fans - www.ifyouknowyourhistory.co.uk.
Entry to the Museum is free, and will be open from 10am until just before kick-off on Tuesday 22nd July.
PNE fans are also urged to make a note in their diaries and look out for further information regarding the next 'Players from the Past' signing session at the Museum on Friday 15th August.
